Vihi Design — Engineering Coffee Tools for Precision, Stability, and Repeatability
Coffee Tools · Industrial Design · Brewing Science & Innovation
Our Origin: Industrial Design Meets Coffee Science
Vihi Design was founded in Jiangmen, Guangdong, China, originally as an
industrial design and engineering studio.
Our team is led by a PhD graduate from the
Royal College of Art (RCA), United Kingdom — one of the world’s most influential design institutions.
For years, we have served clients across China, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore,
building deep expertise in product structure design, materials engineering, fluid dynamics, and
3D printing manufacturing.
Through numerous coffee-related design projects, we discovered a critical gap in the market:
most tools focus on appearance, yet few address the underlying geometry and physics
that truly shape extraction stability.
This insight led to the creation of Vihi —
a dedicated brand that applies engineering principles to solve real brewing-consistency problems
for global coffee enthusiasts.
Our Mission
To redefine the stability, consistency, and repeatability of manual brewing through
laboratory-level geometry, flow-control engineering, and scientifically validated design.
We believe:
Great tools are not only easy to use — they make every brew reproducible, explainable, and measurable.
Core Products & Technologies
-
V-Fold Filter Paper Molding Tool —
A precision device engineered to restore Kalita Wave 155 and other flat-bottom filters to an exact
38.3° geometry, eliminating stack-induced deformation and stabilizing flowrate and drawdown behavior. -
G-Flow Slow-Feed Hopper —
Designed for grinders, G-Flow reduces bean-to-bean compression and significantly lowers fines generation,
resulting in cleaner, more consistent extractions. -
Advanced 3D-Printed Structures —
We harness material science, internal flow-path engineering, and structural geometry to solve
real extraction problems that traditional tools overlook.
Why We Build These Tools
Most instability in manual brewing comes from structural factors:
- Filter paper deformations from stacked packaging
- Inconsistent corner angles causing unpredictable flow
- Excess fines from bean compression in the hopper
- Brewing steps that are difficult to reproduce
Our goal is simple:
Eliminate every unstable variable through engineering, and return brewing to a predictable, verifiable process.
Vihi Coffee Research Lab
We operate an independent Coffee Research Lab, continuously conducting studies including:
- Flow-rate modeling and fluid-dynamic simulations
- Filter paper geometry and consistency analysis
- Structural comparison of Kalita / Origami / V60 / flat-bottom drippers
- Extraction curve validation and drawdown-stability research
- Fines analysis and “slow-feed” bean-delivery theory
Our Vision
To empower every home brewer with a brewing system that is
controllable, reproducible, and scientifically grounded.
To ensure every brew is no longer an act of chance, but a process of understanding.
