We are a small collective of people who love coffee — and love design even more.

Our journey began not in a factory, but in a café — a quiet space where curiosity met craft. Over time, that curiosity evolved: from running our own coffee shop, to roasting beans, and eventually building a studio dedicated to rethinking how coffee tools are made.

Today, Vihi Design stands between Mainland China and Hong Kong, where cultures, materials, and ideas flow freely. Our founder, Brian, is British — and with him came a certain sensibility: a respect for proportion, for silence, and for the understated. He often says that British design isn’t about grandeur; it’s about getting the small things right — the things that feel natural, but are never accidental.

We carry that same philosophy into every detail we make. Each tool begins as a 3D model — modelled, tested, and refined dozens of times. Every curve is intentional. Every surface, tactile. Because to us, design isn’t an aesthetic choice — it’s a way of thinking.

When we launched our first product, the V-Fold Paper Molding Tool, we didn’t set out to make something fashionable. We wanted to solve a quiet, practical problem: the inconsistent angles in Kalita filters caused by industrial folding. After over 120 prototypes and 50 brewing tests, we found the perfect folding geometry — a 58° angle that balances water flow and symmetry. What began as a small obsession became a philosophy: that precision, when done right, feels effortless.

As our collection grew — with creations like the G-Flow Hopper — we began to see ourselves less as designers, and more as caretakers of ritual. We build not for mass production, but for meaning — for people who notice the weight of a tool, the curve of a handle, the quiet pleasure of things that simply work.

Our studio remains small by choice. Every piece is 3D printed and hand-finished in Guangdong, tested by real brewers, and sent out into the world one by one. We believe that’s how craft should feel — intimate, thoughtful, human.
