About Vihi Design — From Curiosity to Creation

Vihi Design began with a simple feeling: that the quiet moments around coffee deserved tools that were just as thoughtful as the drinks themselves. Not loud, not complicated – just precise, well-made objects that make the ritual feel a little calmer, a little more deliberate.

It Started with a Question

Like many things in coffee, Vihi Design started with curiosity. Why do small details – the angle of a filter, the way beans enter a grinder – change the taste so much? And more importantly: could we design tools that gently correct these details, without getting in the way of the brewing experience?

That question led to sketches, prototypes, test brews and, eventually, to the first product: the V-Fold Paper Molding Tool – a 3D-printed tool designed to bring consistency back to Kalita-style filters. By reshaping the paper into a stable geometry, it turns a tiny structural problem into a quiet improvement in the cup.

A Small Studio with a Precise Obsession

Vihi Design is a small independent studio based in Guangdong, China. We work with 3D printing and small-batch production to create tools that are both technically precise and visually calm.

Every design begins on the workbench – not with marketing, but with measurement. We think about tolerance, repeatability and how a tool will feel in the hand after the 100th use, not just the first. If a curve exists, it is there for a reason. If a surface is smooth, it is because it touches your fingers or your coffee.

Tools for People Who Notice the Details

Our products are made for people who enjoy noticing the small things: the way water spreads through a bed of coffee, the sound of beans passing through a hopper, the feeling of a good pour.

The V-Fold Paper Molding Tool was our answer to uneven filter geometry. Our upcoming project, the G-Flow Hopper, explores another part of the workflow: how beans enter the grinder, how flow can be slowed and steadied, and how motion can be made more graceful.

Different tools, same idea: to turn invisible problems into quietly reliable solutions.

We believe good coffee tools should feel like good manners: present, helpful, but never shouting for attention.
